Roger Franklin Dye

Roger Franklin Dye, 86, of Newport, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and daughters on July 19, 2026, of Parkinson’s disease. He was born June 12, 1940, in Bloomfield, Ohio, to the late Franklin and Mildred (Barnhouse) Dye. He graduated in 1958 with the last graduating class of Graysville High School. In November 1958, Roger married the love of his life, Darlene Cline. He retired from the former Sistersville Union Carbide plant in 2000. Roger is survived by his wife of 68 years, Darlene; his daughters, Vickie Turner and Valerie Fickiesen (Bryan); his grandchildren, Marcie Rockwell (Josh), Benjamin Turner (Megan), Quinton McPeek (Alissa), and Heidi Comstock (Kris); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jace and Grant Rockwell, Sophie Turner, Rylee, Gavin, and Tucker McPeek, and Colton Comstock. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Rhonda, and by his parents. Roger was an avid Cleveland Indians fan his entire life, often traveling with Darlene to Spring Training to watch them play. His faith was an important part of his life. He was honored to be part of the rebuilding committee for Newport United Methodist Church following the collapse of its fellowship hall in 1992. Highlights of his life were Sunday night dinners with family. Roger wanted to be sure to give credit and appreciation to his wife for taking care of him throughout his battle with Parkinsons.
