A Mass of Christian Burial for Maureen L. McDermott, 78, of Pataskala, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Granville with Father Timothy Hayes, celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.
Maureen passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, at Mount Carmel East. She was born July 20, 1948 in Plainfield, NJ, to the late James and Carolyn (Schreyach) Connelly.
A loving wife, devoted mother and perpetual caregiver, Maureen worked for Mount Carmel Health as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, where she worked on the Mobile Outreach team, supporting people without housing. She was a volunteer at Open Shelter in Columbus and recently at the Holy Trinity Drop-In Center in Newark.
She is survived by her husband, William; children, Jason (Sherrie), Matthew (Mandi) and Kelly; grandchildren, Christian (Reilly), Caroline, Caden, Elizabeth and Zachary; a brother, James (Mary) Connelly; sisters, Joanne Ash and Carol Vroom; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to Mass at the church, 785 Newark-Granville Rd., Granville, OH 43023.
