Russ Nutter

Russ Nutter, 80, of Marietta passed into eternity on August 13, 2026, after a prolonged illness. In 1946, he was born at home in Belpre, Ohio to Russell and Grace Nutter.

Christian, soldier, engineer, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by wife Ellen, son William Nutter (Jodi), daughter Melissa Nutter, step- daughter Erin Cummings, and grandson Wes Roden. Brothers Harley Nutter and Kenny Nutter (Marie) and sister Shirley Coggeshall (Jim) also survive. Additionally, his beloved rescue cat Gus still holds vigil for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother George(Brenda). After graduating from Warren High School in 1965, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Army National Guard for six years. Later, he earned an electrical engineering degree from Washington State which he applied rigorously throughout his employment history from TCI to WECC as well as in personal endeavors. After he became a disciple of Jesus; Russ loved reading, studying and teaching the Word. He enjoyed fishing with his buddy, Harold, tinkering in Shockey's garage, communicating with enthusiasts of Ham radio, commiserating with the breakfast crew, Roger and Deke, and studying and discussing the history of any culture. He was a longtime member of the Celebration Center of Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marietta Firefighters/EMT Service, 301 Putnam Street, Marietta, Ohio. Visitation from 6-8 at McClure-Schafer Lankford, Tuesday 8/18; funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday 8/19, Pastor Gordon Deer officiating. Graveside service following at East Lawn Cemetery.
