David L. Haney, 89, of Marietta, Ohio, died on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Belpre Landing in Belpre, Ohio. He was born on June 29, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, son of Harry and Pauline Gorrell Haney. Following graduation from North High School in Columbus, Ohio he joined the Marine Corps and served from 1954 to 1959. After graduating from Paris Island and combat training he was sent to Newport, Rhode Island, to become a court stenographer and later a recruiting officer. After being discharged from the Marines he worked as a 7 UP distributor. After leaving there he worked for a court recording company in Columbus, Ohio, and in 1962 he opened his own court recording business and in 1964 he moved his business to Urbana, Ohio. In 1979 he moved to Marietta where he and Bruce Bronsky started a home delivery service for advertisements. After selling that business in 1983 he and his son Brian Haney started Fort Harmar Antiques and in 1989 they purchased their first property on Front Street and eventually added two more buildings and they operated the Antique Store until just a few years ago. Dave is survived by three sons, Brian Haney of, Lowell, Kevin Haney (Cory) of Belle Center, Ohio, and Andrew Haney of Lowell; a daughter, Heather Haney of Marietta; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Snyder of Michigan and her two sons, Michael and Daniel Muhr; his longtime companion, Linda Gant of Marietta and a longtime friend, Mike McCurdy of Beverly; He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Caleb Haney.
