Mary Ellen Stine, 82, Newport, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born in Friendly, WV on March 23, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Truman Earnest and Martha Edna Northcraft Virden. She was a graduate of Sistersville High School with the class of 1962. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and loved puzzles. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Tammy (Sam) Williamson, Lesley (Donnie) Handschumacher, Steven (Charlott) Stine, and Brian Stine; six grandchildren, Zachary (Rachael) Tefft, Brittany Tefft, Samantha Williamson, Cole Stine, Austin (Laura) Handschumacher, and Mykaela (Zach) Davis; four great-grandchildren, Lilliana and August Tefft, and Oakley and Finley Handschumacher; one sister, Anna Dailey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glen Stine, and three brothers, Norman Virden, Sr., Melvin Virden, and Joseph Virden.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Rob Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.
