Wanda Rea Moorehead, 100, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family who loved her so dearly.
Wanda was born July 11, 1926, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Joseph B. and Daisey Lee Conley. Wanda spent most of her life living in Marietta, Ohio. Wanda graduated from Marietta High School in 1944, where she was a majorette. Wanda met Glen Moorehead when they were both 16 and they married on June 3, 1944. Shortly after they married, Glen enlisted in the US Navy and left to serve his country during WWII. The first two years of marriage were mostly spent apart, connected across the miles by old fashioned love letters. While Glen served in the South Pacific, Wanda faithfully waited for him while she supported the war effort at home. After Glen returned from the war, they built a house on Harmar Hill in 1950, where they raised their four children and built a cherished life together. Wanda and Glen were married for an amazing 78 years – a beautiful testimony of enduring love and devotion. Their life together was also filled with adventure. They traveled to most of the 50 states and visited several European countries, rode motorcycles, enjoyed boating, and always seemed to have a flourishing garden.
Wanda was a longtime member of Walnut Street Church of Christ, and her faith remained an important part of her life. She was very creative and loved working with her hands. Crocheting, painting, and crafting were among her favorite pastimes. For many years, she lovingly made a handmade Christmas ornament for each of her grandchildren. Wanda also had a tender spot in her heart for her little puppy dogs, whose companionship brought her much happiness throughout the years.
Of all the blessings Wanda enjoyed in her century of life, none meant more to her than her family. Wanda leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her children, Glen "Bill" (Fran) Moorehead Jr., Lana (Bill) Glover, Danny Moorehead and Debbie (Mike) Woody; her 12 grandchildren; and her many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who brought her great joy. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Glen in 2022; brothers Elmer and Larry Conley; and daughter-in-law Nancy Moorehead.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Cawley and her staff for their care and support. Also, a special thank-you to her granddaughter, Vicky Robinson, who lovingly cared for her in her home the past two years.
Friends may call Friday, September 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mike Horner and Mike Woody. Wanda will be laid to rest at East Lawn Memorial Park following the funeral.
