Phyllis Spires, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026. Phyllis was born on February 18, 1936, to the late Delbert and Ora Stewart. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1954, and earned her nursing degree in 1957 from Camden Clark Medical School. Phyllis made history as the first female captain of the West Virginia Civil Air Patrol.
