Mid-Ohio Valley residents are proud of our industrial past, and we know some of that industry was really more of an art that is still very much a part of who we are. This week, nearly 100 people, from New Hampshire to Florida and all points in between, have traveled to celebrate the past and future of one company in particular.
The Fenton Art Class Collectors Association is meeting through today at the Marietta Shrine Club. Members will be showing off their own collections, talking with former Fenton glass artists, perhaps doing a little buying, and discussing the Williamstown location that is set to become The Museum of Fenton Art Glass.
Participants even had the opportunity to learn how to paint on glass as the Fenton factory glass artists once did.
"Our goal is to keep the love of Fenton alive, even though the Fenton Factory closed in 2011," said the association's Claire Kauffing.
Indeed, the love of Fenton and other local products is still very much alive, but it is important for organizations such as the FAGCA to help us truly appreciate what they have meant to the Mid-Ohio Valley and the world.
