There is so much to offer here

"Tourism is a shared effort."

Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Deana Clark is right. Our region is becoming better known as a good place because every stakeholder is working to make it happen.

"It's because of you, all of our business owners, our nonprofit leaders, our hospitality professionals and the community advocates. (You're) the reason that Washington County continues to grow as a destination," Clark said during the bureau's annual meeting and dinner this week.

There is so much to offer here. But rather than keeping it a secret the CVB and our community have done an excellent job spreading the word.

"By collaborating with historical sites, businesses and community organizations, we're ensuring that residents and visitors alike can take part in a meaningful experience that reflects our area's role in American history," Clark said. "We are helping to make America 250 a truly special and memorable celebration for everybody, and we're looking forward to the huge milestone of this for our country."

Milestone or not, a visitor to Marietta and the surrounding area will have a lot to look forward to.

That's due in no small part to the businesses and individuals who have decided to make it happen. Thank you, folks.
