If you have not done so already, today is the day to make a difference for our communities by participating in Give Local MOV 2025. As nonprofits race to fill gaps left by changes in funding and the removal of support from some national organizations, they will, in turn, need our help.

Today is a wonderful opportunity to get started, as there are chances for donations to be matched, prizes to be won for our favorite organizations and opportunities to learn about more of the organizations than perhaps we come across on a regular basis.

When you go to givelocalmov.org, you can find an organization you already have in mind, sure. But you can also explore organizations — even filter by cause. Maybe you will find a new organization that works toward goals you share. Maybe you will be reminded of an organization you haven’t thought about in a while.

Whatever you find, it will be another gear in the machinery that keeps our communities striving to be better and do better.

Parkersburg Area Community Foundation organizers ask local residents (or those far flung natives who still keep the Mid-Ohio Valley in their hearts) to “Join us on Tuesday, May 6, as we come together to help area nonprofits raise even more funds and awareness in our 12th annual giving day. Join us in celebrating the collaborative effort it takes to make this area a great place to live, work, and play!”

By the time you read this, it may be too late to have snagged the First Donation or Morning Drive prizes, but there may still be the Lunch Break, Golden Ticket, Happy Hour, Prime Time and Night Owl prizes for your favorite group.

Get online, give — and spread the word. Drum up support for organizations that look forward to this date all year as a boost to their efforts and a chance to remind us of the work they do.

When you give local, the money (and the good it does) stays local. Do some good for the Mid-Ohio Valley today.
