Partnership creates needed opportunity
Two local education powerhouses are teaming up to provide more options for students. Washington State College of Ohio students will now be able to get a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity by taking classes through West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Innovation and Technology Center.
“We know what this will bring to this community,” said WVUP President Torie Jackson. “It brings a lot of excitement, a lot of innovation and a lot of opportunities for new partnerships. We are very thankful for Washington State College of Ohio and what that partnership can mean for students.”
Now, students can get their associate of applied science in cybersecurity at WSCO and transfer to WVUP to finish a bachelor of applied technology in cybersecurity and network administration. That’s an important option for those looking to get a good education that will prepare them to fill good jobs, without accruing crippling student loan debt.
And, the plan is for coordinated academic advising, too, so students will be able to make the transition smoothly.
“Washington State is committed to good partnerships,” said WSCO President Sarah Parker. “This is an extension of what we can provide our students through great partnerships with really awesome educational organizations here in the Mid-Ohio Valley. It keeps our workforce strong and that is what we are committed to.”
Congratulations, and thank you, to those who made it happen.
