Mid-Ohio Valley arts organizations work hard to bring quality arts education and experiences to everyone; and it appears the folks at the Ohio Arts Council have noticed.
More than $21,000 in grants were awarded by the council to Artsbridge Inc., Betsey Mills Corp., the Civil War Roundtable of the Mid-Ohio Valley and the Hippodrome Colony Historical Theatre Association (Peoples Bank Theatre).
From free concerts for the public to an artists catalogue and touring groups for local schools, Artsbridge has a range of programs that make sure the arts are accessible to everyone. Betsey Mills offers a child care art program that gets kids engaged in the arts early.
The Hippodrome Colony Historical Theatre Association and Civil War Roundtable both received ArtSTART grants for upcoming short-term projects.
“This will allow us to invite curiosity and imagination. We’re all about hands-on activity," said Betsey Mills Child Care Director Darcy DeLancey.
In fact, the awards should invite curiosity from local resident about what Mid-Ohio Valley arts organizations are doing that the Arts Council felt was worth such support. These four are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to those determined to make sure the arts are available, inclusive, and part of what makes our communities such wonderful places to live.
Congratulations to those organizations supported this year. And thank you, to those at the Arts Council who know what treasures we have.
