Concert, Marietta a pleasant surprise

What a pleasant surprise, listening to Leo Kotke at the Peoples Theatre on Sunday afternoon. The Esbenshade family made this all possible with their generous endowment.

We recently moved to Marietta from the bustling suburbs of NYC, in Connecticut.

It took a while to settle in and get accustomed to small town life. Instead of comparing the differences, we have finally begun to embrace life in an amazing little town.

We strolled down to Putnam Avenue and enjoyed one of the most talented guitarists I have ever heard. Leo Kotke captured us from the very start.

His sound is so full and melodic, it sounds like a band is accompanying him.

We travel down his babbling brook and listen intently as he spins a lifetime yarn.

He teases us into guessing where the end is. Leo doesn’t take himself too seriously and is testament to what motivation and a great deal of talent can do, even as we age.

Many thanks to Marietta College, Peoples Theatre and the Esbenshade Foundation.

Marietta is a special little small town and we look forward to being a part of it.
