I read with interest John Ells' letter to the editor regarding the Aug. 2, Primary Election that will determine who represents the 30th Senate District in the Ohio Republican State Central Committee (ORSCC) race.
The letter was wrong.
ORSCC's primary function is to identify, promote and support viable Republican candidates at the state and federal level. Purity tests are of no use in winning elections. As President Reagan said, "The person who agrees with you 80% of the time is a friend and an ally -- not a 20% traitor."
In this regard, the ORSCC and its members have been a smashing success, winning seven of the last eight gubernatorial elections; holding majorities in the General Assembly and State Senate for all but two of the last 26 years, 12 of Ohio's 16 U.S. House Representatives are Republicans and currently Republicans hold every non-judicial statewide office expect that of Senator Brown.
Washington County is fortunate to have LeeAnn Johnson as our representative on the ORSCC.
LeeAnn Johnson has a long legacy of strong Republican advocacy. She's a true Conservative, unapologetically pro-life, strongly supports the Second Amendment and is a proud concealed carry holder and both state and federal Republican candidates seek her advice and help in winning their elections. Her leadership helped deliver Ohio for President Trump in 2016 and 2020. In 2016, she was the Women for Trump Co-Chair in Ohio and once she got Ohio in President Trump's circle, she embarked with a group of strong Republican ladies to campaign for President Trump in other states like North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
When Donald Trump kicked off his "thank you" tour after the November 2016 election, he called LeeAnn Johnson to lead the opening prayer for his first rally in Cincinnati.
LeeAnn Johnson is our voice in Columbus. Without her there will not be a single representative of Washington County to sit at the table and advocate for this community.
LeeAnn Johnson is absolutely the right person to represent the 30th Senate District on the ORSCC. That's why she recently received the unanimous endorsement of the Washington County Republican Party for the Aug. 2, Primary Election and I urge all Republicans to vote for LeeAnn Johnson for Ohio Republican State Central Committee Woman.
