After reading that the House of Representatives passed legislation designed to protect the right of couples to use contraceptive devices or medications to prevent pregnancy during intercourse, the confusion began.
If a couple decides that they are not ready to have children, don't want to raise children or have already given birth or adopted all the children they can afford to raise...why would the State tell them to either "stop having marital relations, i.e. intercourse OR carry any pregnancy that results to term or else!
I think the people who are pushing "forced pregnancy" like Justice Clarence Thomas have never had to think about the difference between an intimate sexual relationship and becoming a parent.
The two events are not the same in the 21st century where safe and effective contraceptive measures are well-established and used by an overwhelming number of couples in the United States.
What is even more remarkable is that some of the very people who now suggest that the United States Senate should not pass the House bill on Contraceptive Freedom are "secretly" using contraception themselves. How would the public know? Nor should we! That is the point.
When or whether to have a first child or another child should be left only to the couple involved, especially the woman.
Please encourage Senator Portman to come out in favor of the House bill to keep contraception legal. This is the single best way to reduce the number of abortions that are performed.
