Thankful for community support for recycling center
As we enter the holiday season with Thanksgiving, the volunteers at the Marietta Area Recycling Center (MARC) are reminded of our thanks for all of the community support. With current challenging market conditions, we depend on local business sponsorships to help with funding including All Pro Nutrition, Colegate Woods Veterinary Hospital, Eye Care Associates of Marietta, Hall Financial Advisors, Marietta Adventure Company, Mattressmax, Peoples Bank, R.W. Miller Plumbing & Electric, Inc., Two Peas & A Pod, Wildroot Flower Company and Wilson Heating & Cooling. Thank you!
We also rely on Mondo Polymers for taking our plastics and making them into tire chalks and guardrail blocks; Wetz Transportation for being adaptive to our changing haul destinations; Tim Heiss for hauling our aluminum & scrap steel as well as the SEOJSW for providing trailers and hauling our steel and green/blue glass. Without these industry partners, we would not have a localized market for our recycled materials. Thank you!
MARC is unique in that it is totally volunteer run and our volunteers handle 800 tons of materials annually. Volunteers come no matter the weather 365 days a year. This is no small task and so my sincere thanks to the following volunteers: Dee Baker, Brad Bond, Ellen Bond, Laura Bradley, Cindy Brown, Jenny Bruce, Carla Cassidy-Archer, Lucas and Nevaeh Craft, Haiden English (Peoples Bank), Kel Faires, Jim Grecni, Tim Heiss, Anita Kesterson, Jody Kohler and Jim Wright, John Line, Don Murray, Mohammed Mubarek (Peoples Bank), Jennifer Naum, Tom O'Neil & Family, Sue Price, Bob Ritchey, Esther Salem, Glenn Santee, Rakibul Sarker, Raodet Sarker, Elke Schnabel, Russ Schreiber, Tammy Schreiber, Lori Tofaute, and Susan Wunderlich. We also have student volunteers through Marietta College's Leadership Program as follows: Laney Carpenter, India Flores, Kya Forker, Alex Fries, McKenna Hewitt, Lexi Jobe, Catharine Martin, Marissa McGary, Jade Poling, Mitchell Polovic, Landon Salgat, Amanda Schlilse, Eli Shouldis, Gabe Tingle and Ian Wohnhas. Without this very loyal hardworking volunteer base, there would be no MARC. Thank you!
The recyclers that come to MARC are helpful by following materials guidelines, sorting into appropriate containers, donating and assisting volunteers. Thank you!
We are blessed to have a wonderful, supportive recycling community that has enabled MARC for over 45 years to be a recycling opportunity for all.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
