What a great community we live in. The 40th annual Eve Benefit Auction on Aug. 26 was a tremendous success -- we grossed over $38,000 all because of the wonderful support we received from the community, local businesses and the many individuals who attended, bid for items and had fun at the event.
Local auctioneers, Charlie and Keelan McLeish, volunteered their time and once again had the crowd energized. Washington County Sheriff's office provided a security presence, the Zonta Club of Marietta and the Environs and the Washington State Community College Phi Theta Kappa students helped to organize the silent auction items so that we were able to "silently" auction over 150 items in less than two hours.
We are honored as our Friend of Eve award recipient, Kiah Jenkins, for her inspired work in raising awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault at her high school. Casey Roeder was honored as Eve's volunteer of the year. Mary Jo Barth was selected by her peers as the employee of the year and Doreen Horn was recognized for her 15 years of service to the survivors at Eve.
