Cooperation

Again, we see Vladimir Putin trying his hand at causing more grief in our world. Another American journalist, Evan Goshkoich was arrested on charges of espionage in Russia. It seems that there are other factors in play.

The White House Secretary said "U.S. citizens residing or traveling in Russia should depart immediately as State continues to advise."

What a difference less than twenty years make. It is still fresh in my memory as the peaceful coexistence was happening and thriving between the former Soviet Union and United States, as well as other nations in mid 1990s.

Russia's president was Boris Yeltsen who established cooperation among other countries. He encouraged members of the former Soviet Bloc nation to travel as well as allowed Russian people to travel to other countries.

Even in Mid-Ohio-Valley, we were fortunate to have an exchange of such entities as businessmen, doctors, nurses, teachers and even astronauts.

Russian Orchestra, which had not ventured outside of the Soviet Union in 50 years, performed at Blennerhassett Junior High. What a lovely performance.

Visitors from Russia developed such comradery with Americans. They were in awe of all the available items for sale and at such reasonable prices, especially at dollar stores.

How sad that all of cooperation had to come to such abrupt end. It seems that people like Vladimir Putin thrive on causing misery. My fervent prayer is that we may find peace and cooperation among peoples. Perhaps Vladimir Putin will see value in cooperation for achieving world peace.
