The fate of the Titan submersible and its five passengers captivated the news cycle for a full week. This was a very tragic and avoidable accident, but that is not the issue. The real issue is how the American as well as global citizens were played.
The "experts" trotted out never gave much of an indication of the true picture. The public at large was fed a steady diet of information about oxygen supply while keeping the story alive. The truth was the Titan imploded on descent and anyone with any kind of knowledge knew this from the start. I would urge the reader to search James Cameron's comments on the issue. I would think that this scenario would serve to highlight that "news" is not really news anymore. News is merely a very cheap to produce and lucrative form of entertainment.
The "news" is also in bed with the powers that be. Operation Mockingbird, exposed by Woodward and Bernstein, was very real and is still ongoing to this day. Now, what news did we learn about during the sub coverage? Hunter Biden quietly took a plea deal that absolved him of serious felonies. The average person would not get this kind of deal. Couple that with the cries of Russian disinformation about the laptop that is very real and somehow was lost by the FBI, and a distinct pattern seems to emerge. I would like to think that we should not have a two-tier justice system in this country. The ideal for Americans is equal treatment under the law. Sadly, we do not have that today.
Examples of media bias, on both sides, are everywhere and very easy to accomplish. If the goal was to crush the opponent, we would see headlines everywhere such as "Hunter Biden Gets Sweetheart Deal." The simple framing of the article does the work because most people won't read any further. More proof of this can be found in the headlines revolving around Target and Pride Month. If one were to read the headlines, right-wing extremists were calling in bomb threats on Target. If you took the time to read the article, around 8 paragraphs in, you would find that the bomb threats were from radical LBGTQ+ groups. Another example is the massive campaign about COVID that not only lied to the public, but actively silenced people via tactics of bullying and name calling as well as bans on social media.
In closing, it is time for the average citizen to wake up and demand better. It is vital to the health of the nation as a whole. We could easily come together on most issues if we did not have the background noise of division driven by a complicated media doing the bidding of the government.
As long as we do not get actual facts and try to silence dissension, we will never progress in a meaningful and helpful manner as a nation or world.
