This week my husband, Mark and I photographed the band members and fall athletes for Marietta High School. We worked with over 350 students and 50 coaches. Clearly the efforts of the staff is recognizable. The students were polite, respectful and enthusiastic. We were thanked personally those days and recognized on social media. I was even presented a bouquet of flowers by the volleyball team. The administration and athletic department have been working hard to improve the culture at the high school. These students are encouraged to volunteer in our community in projects such as trash clean up, helping at the food pantry, dipping ice cream at socials,visiting nursing facilities and so many more. Some of these students will be our future medical workers, teachers and small business owners. These students know that when they put on their uniform not only to they represent their team and school, but they also represent us the community.
We as the community, need to get behind our students. They need to know that we see them and support them. Follow the teams on social media. Most have their own face book page. Attend games and concerts. If you are a senior citizen, you can purchase a pass from the athletic office for $25. This allows you to attend all home games for the entire year for all sports. What a deal. You can relive your own glory days. Student passes and family passes are also available. If you have a family of young children, point out these students when you see them in our community. Your children have someone to look up to and the athletes feel recognized for their efforts. Thank the coaching staff. Every year coaches are recognized by the students for the impact they have made on their lives. Thank the businesses that support our athletes. Many allow fundraisers at their business. Others make monetary donations. Thank all school employees We have a great team of teachers, office employees, custodians, bus drivers and support staff. Each one makes an impression on the students. Remember it takes a village. GO TIGERS!
