The crux of Issue One is whether women should have the power to make decisions regarding their own mental and physical health. If you are a person who would force a woman to carry a fetus to term against her will, I encourage you to think about that. Abortion will always be with us, legal or not, because women will always assert their right to make decisions for themselves based on their own situations.
I find the phrase "unborn children" inaccurate and disingenuous. For the first seven weeks, the bundle of cells is called an embryo; after seven weeks the accurate word is fetus. It's termed an infant only at birth.
I have never understood why groups of religious people think that they should be free to impose their religious ideology on others. I respect the right of religious people to congregate and live by their chosen beliefs. In a free democratic society, that right belongs to all of us. We are not a 'Christian Nation' ~ we are a nation in which people are free to choose to be Christian. Or Jewish. Or Muslim. Or Buddhist. Or Atheist.
It's the height of hubris and cruelty to force a woman to carry an unwanted child to term. Please vote YES on Issue One.
