The author of a recent letter to the editor has been keeping a pretty low profile for a while.
And there you have probably the nicest thing I am going to say in this response to his unhinged rant that appeared in the Nov. 29 edition (Johnson not ideal for Congress or YSU position).
We often hear pundits lament the fact that our politics has become so angry and divided that a constructive dialog has become all but impossible.
May I present Exhibit A in support of why that may very well be true: Aside from the fact that the author's letter doesn't really have a point (aside from calling Bill Johnson and Donald Trump vile names) he doesn't even bother to cite a single shred of evidence to support any of his libelous bloviating.
I suppose he is counting on the fact that most of us get our "news" only from MSNBC and CNN, therefore have already been schooled on the dark, evil intent of all "Maga-Republicans."
The writer and I have politically sparred a few times in the distant past, when honest differences could be openly discussed and opposing views tolerated.
Those days are apparently long gone. Where do you begin to discuss issues with someone who thinks prominent members of your party are: White Supremacy puppets, Democracy destroyers, treasonous, racist, misogynistic, orange person (okay, he may have a point on that last one).
