Soon after the end of World War II, as we were drifting from one encampment to the next, we encountered a lot of falsehood. One of which was involving Soviet Communist soldiers as they were repatriating Russian refugees.
As soldiers proceeded with their task, they were telling the refugees how great everything was in Russia. They coaxed the Russian refugees as to how good things were in Russia. They told the people that they would be welcomed with open arms. They would behold the great progress in Russia. They would be welcomed by Mother Russia and live with want for nothing.
Many of the Russian refugees chose not to return. They were familiar with communism.
After the soldiers left, two Russian gentlemen, Maksim and Oleg, decided to verify what was told to them. Maksim said that he would return to Russia and see for himself. He said that as soon as he got to Russia he would write a letter about life in Russia.
He told his Oleg that he would write the whole truth and nothing but the truth. He said that if I write in black ink, it means the situation is as I have written. However if it is not, then I will use red ink. In that case what I write is opposite of what it is.
A few weeks later, Oleg, who stayed behind, receives a letter from Maksim in Russia. The letter was written in black ink. It said that what the Russian soldiers said was the truth and nothing but the truth.
He went on to say that it is far better than one can imagine. The prosperity is overflowing. One can purchase anything ones' heart desires. Everything is beautiful and new. The war's destruction is completely gone. Everyone is happy and content beyond belief. I was able to find whatever I looked for. The only thing I could not find anywhere was red ink.
