If you've lived in or around Marietta for a number of years and have now noticed how horrible traffic flow is thanks to changing from traffic activated systems to poorly timed lights and the addition of the new 4 way stop on the West side, please join me in calling or writing to the Safety Service Director or Mayor to complain!
One by one, the city has systematically ruined every single intersection in town, save one who's location I will keep secret for fear of them taking that one away too.
Those who travel Washington Street know that never before has traffic backed up clear across the bridge during busy hours every single day! We've all sat on Washington Street waiting for what seems like an eternity while zero cars are traveling through the intersection via Third Street. Anyone who has ever traveled the 7th Street, Glendale, and Putnam Street intersection long for a return to the amazing traffic activated system that used to rule there. Instead, we now have the constant green light for 7th Street 24 hours a day that we must endure while sitting at either of the other 2 roads while NO ONE is on 7th Street!
Even the light at Front and Butler now holds Front Street travelers far too long in the absence of any traffic from Butler! It's absolutely baffling and exhausting!
Is the Mayor purposefully hijacking our traffic flow so that, if and when he institutes the improvements he promised when elected, we will be in awe? Will the Safety Service Director claim that the lights are not under the control of the City despite most roads not be state routes and despite seeing City workers programming the lights? What happened to traffic activated lights? Why did we go back in time? Why is Marietta robbing us of our valuable time by developing and executing traffic flow that is worse than ever?
Please help me make our voices heard by responding to this letter, and calling the Mayor or Safety Service Director until they return us to sane and effective traffic flow!
