'Tis the season of giving, but the price gouging at the pump, especially on holidays, makes it seem more like the season of taking. The small reprieve we enjoyed for the last few weeks is but a faded memory.

It may not seem like much, but my math says that is $1,50.00 extra for 5000 gallons, which is very possible for self-serve 24 hour stations in one day.
Let's see if there are only 10 gas stations in the area that's only $10,500.00 per day extra. A nice Christmas bonus they created for themselves wouldn't you say?
Just across the river, prices did not take an overnight price increase. Can you imagine a traveler driving across the bridge observing the sign, "Ohio Find it here" and stopping in friendly Marietta they find the gasoline 21 cents more per gallon than at the last exit in WV. Kinda makes you feel a little less welcome doesn't it.
How soon would you want to come back, and how do you ever get that customer to come back to visit?
Ask any business manager about the importance of "customer retention." When are we going to stop shooting ourselves and fellow business owners in the foot? If travelers don't stop here, they don't spend here!
Many other businesses have Holiday Sales to draw in customers, fuel stations have Holiday Gouging. Bah Humbug.
