For the past few days, I have listened to the speakers at the Republican National Convention. They claim they want to unify our country. While this sounds good, my concern with this proposal is what does it mean to “unite” a country? Does Unity mean to control individuals to the point where there is no diversity of ideas, value or lifestyles. Choices in such as “united” country would resemble other authoritarian dictatorships such as Communist China, Russia or North Korea.

If you were to read what is proposed with Project 2025, a nine hundred plus document written by the conservative think tank, Heritage Foundation; you will begin to see that Uniformity and Control are the real goals of a second Trump Administration.

To summarize Project 2025… if enacted, would result in the following:

1. Reshape the Federal government with proposals like “eliminating” the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration and other agencies that have provided the framework for public services for decades.

2. Ban abortion and restrict access to birth control; including IVF services for couples.

3. Roll back rights for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Americans; including remove marriage equality for the LGBT-Q citizens.

4. Redefine religious freedom, including codifying of specific “Christian Values” as a part of government policy.

5. Eliminate civil service jobs and replace those federal positions with “loyal” persons who commit to do the bidding of the president.

6. Bring back the previous tax cuts for the wealthiest while removing protections for workers administered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, including CHILD LABOR LAWS in place since the 1930’s.

Having learned in his first administration, that Civil Service employees with knowledge of the subject matter and the law, were barriers to his desire to “just do it” regardless of the law or the consequences; Trump has committed to surround himself with Make American Great Again warriors, anti-government zealots who will help him expand executive powers to get his way.

Specifically, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice provided guardrails in the first Trump administration. Trump has preached “revenge” for his perceived grievances and vows to “hunt down his enemies using the FBI and DOJ as his agents.

Make no mistake, electing Trump and Vance would be no more than a enactment of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.

Voters – wake up, pay attention – our democracy is at a critical crossroad. Stay informed and tell your family, friends and neighbors of the threat to our freedoms. Our way of life is at stake!
