Ohio voters if you are considering voting against Issue 1 on the statewide ballot do you know what you are voting for?
Such a vote is for maintaining an archaic system of drawing maps for our voting. Currently politicians who presently hold office pick who their voters are. The original intent of Ohio's founders was that we the voters would choose who holds important offices in our government. As you know, this is called gerrymandering.
This "system" is is wrong. When pointing this out to Republicans the inevitable reply is "The Democrats did it when they were in office." Yes, they did. They weren't as good at it, I laugh.
That is the point. It should be ended. Whoever is in power should not control how voting maps are drawn. A non-partisan citizen group with nothing to gain would be capable of creating voting districts which even the Ohio Supreme Court could ok.
Really, think about what Washington County has in common interest with Youngstown. That is our current congressional district. I urge you to pass Issue 1 and make all votes count.
