While the news is full of the ways that the Trump appointed Department of Government Efficiency is laying off and firing Federal workers at a breathtaking pace, little is said about exactly who these individuals are and what jobs they have held in the government.
A recent news story did highlight the firing of a worker at the Veteran's Administration who reported that he had never had any negative reviews and was puzzled as to why he was abruptly let go. A look at who is making these decisions might shed some light.
Elon Musk, a brilliant Tech Genius ( Donald Trump's words) has HIRED some young tech workers to scour the spreadsheets and employment records of all Federal Departments and remove any employees whom the tech workers don't see as "necessary". Granted these folks are not medical personnel, nor have most of them ever been inside a VA Hospital, yet they have incredible power. No feedback is being sought from the VA Hospital Administrator, Medical Staff, or patients. Sadly, the people being laid-off or fired are the hourly workers who transport patients from a hospital room to a test in the hospital building and back or a dietary worker who prepares the meals. These individuals are not doctors or nurses so the tech workers don't really know why they are needed. Also on the block are clerical staff who handle calls, schedule appointments and manage the very complicated insurance billing. The question that no one in the Trump Administration is asking is "how do the patients get to the testing without orderlies?" "How do the meals get delivered without the dietary workers?" Are doctors and nurses going to take over these duties which are critical to patient treatment and recovery.
The short answer is "They don't really care?" The goal is to slash payroll so that there is money available to purchase GREENLAND. The House of Representatives has a bill on it's docket right now HR 361 that gives Trump the go ahead to negotiate a deal with the King of Denmark to purchase Greenland. Another HR wants to rename Greenland ... Red, White and Blue Land. Sounds like a bad joke. The saddest part is that the voters of Ohio's Sixth Congressional District don't even ask why their representative, Michael Rulli is a co-sponsor of this nonsense. Don't try calling Mr. Rulli as no one in the local office can answer any questions and the Washington Office is not much better. At best, you will receive a poorly written letter repeating support for the Party Leader and not once explaining how the purchase of Greenland is going to help the people of Southeastern Ohio.
What will help the people of Southeastern Ohio ... vote Michael Rulli out in the next election.
