Spreading Hate
I read a letter to the editor about hate. The writer, Mr. Kalter, seemed to miss the fact that he was spreading a whole bunch of hate with the nonsense he was pondering on. I find the lack of self-awareness from the left very troubling. It is impossible to have civil discourse with anyone when they are so easily offended and resort to baseless name calling. This tactic is nothing but a logical fallacy that is designed to shut people up. As I sat reading the letter, I recalled an interaction that I had with Mr. Kalter many years ago when he was on council. I had received a ticket for my cell phone right after the law came into effect in Marietta. I was not on my phone; I was pulled over for merely having it in my hand. I sent an email to Mr. Kalter complaining about the law. The response I received was that I should thank him for saving my life. I have no need for the government to prevent every ill that may befall me. That is my job and not the job of the government. I ended up beating the ticket because a cell phone is no different than holding a bottle of water. The point is Mr. Kalter and people like him are dangerous to freedom. They think that they know best and anyone that differs in opinion is obviously evil and lacks morals of any kind. His haughty response to me in the email illustrates this fact. The complete and total lack of any common sense was astounding. It is dangerous and does nothing but divide. Using bombastic language to scare others to your side has failed. The evidence is the last election. The American people have had enough. We need a healthy opposition to have the chance at a good government. What we are getting is a doubling down of tired tactics that do not work. I would submit that if Mr. Kalter is truly concerned about hate, he should stop spreading it.
