I am a resident of Marietta's 4th Ward and attended the October 22 candidates forum. It was very enlightening and provided me with even more reasons to put my support behind Erin O'Neill for city council. "Bridging Communities, Building Tomorrow" is not just a campaign slogan; it's a commitment! Ms. O'Neill is well versed in all the current and future issues of our city. Her lengthy resume speaks to her long-standing community involvement and commitment to future growth. During the time allotted for audience questions, I asked Ms. O'Neill the following: "As a family who did not grow up in Marietta [I call us 18 year newcomers], why should we continue to live here?" Her thoughtful response included her commitment to improving educational opportunities, continuing work on Safe Routes to School, and emphasis on infrastructure improvements, and sustainable development. Personally, she is involved in the local theater community and is a founder of the MOV Film Commission, which she hopes will bring even more jobs and citizen engagement to our community. My take-away? Ms. O'Neill will continue her work on bridging our community for a better tomorrow. As for her opponent's (Ron Wesel) response? I don't know. He didn't show up.
So, please join me in voting to keep Erin O'Neill for our 4th Ward -- she shows up!
