Constitutional Panel Discussion

On the final day of the Constitutional Convention, Elizabeth Willing Powel, a prominent figure in Philadelphia’s political and social circles, asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got–a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin replied, “A republic, if you can keep it.” More than two centuries later, that question remains as urgent as ever: Can we keep our republic?

The Honor Society of Washington State College of Ohio invites the community to a Constitutional Panel Discussion on Wednesday, November 19, at 12:00 p.m. in Graham Auditorium on the WSCO campus. The panel will feature a thoughtful and engaging debate on the Constitution, its interpretation, and the challenges it faces in the modern era. Together, we will consider whether the Constitution’s safeguards against authoritarianism remain effective today.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will receive complimentary pocket Constitutions, and light refreshments will be served following the discussion.
