Jon Husted (Republican) and Sherrod Brown (Democrat) are our candidates for United States senator of the state of Ohio in a special election this November.
Husted was appointed two years ago by the governor to fill the seat vacated when JD Vance became vice president. He has only two years of experience there.
Sherrod Brown is running again for senator -- and I am just assuming here -- because he knows that he can provide greater representation for us than Husted. He was our senator from 2006 until 2024 when Bernie Moreno was elected.
Both candidates have been in government in some sort of job since graduating from college. They have both served in the House of Representatives: (Brown in two different districts). Both served for eight years as Secretary of State. Husted was in the state senate for two years. In 2019, he became lieutenant governor under Mike DeWine.
Controversies? Jon Husted testified FOR First Energy during the initial trials (there are to be more). In 2017, First Energy had donated $1 million earmarked “Husted campaign.” A Husted rep reported the money was never received. (Where did it go?) Jon Husted has voted 98% of the time to support the Trump agenda, actions, and appointees. Sherrod Brown’s controversies are his gravelly voice, his unruly looks (it is his hair) in his Ohio union made suits, and his votes for issues that he knows are the best for the people of Ohio.
I am going to vote for Sherrod Brown. I hope that you will too.
