Our world is addicted to war. How can we live under the storm clouds of war?
For followers of Jesus Christ, we turn to our Bibles for answers. Isaiah 9:1 says that in our gloom and despair, we fear that our sorrows and troubles will never end. Isaiah goes on to say that the Lord may not always take us around our troubles, but if we follow him wholeheartedly, He will lead us safely through them.
The thing about following Jesus Christ is that belief in Him comes before study and service to Him. We trust this historic man, our Messiah, God with Us, who died a horrible death for our sake, was resurrected from the dead, and ascended to heaven, all witnessed by many people.
Our trust must be in the Messiah, not in ourselves.
When we worship our evening news more than our Lord, there is no hope. It is up to us to take responsibility in our faith and pray for our nation's leaders and the world situation that voices more about hate than peace.
No matter how bleak our situation or how evil the world is, we must continue to be God's faithful people who live in hope for His return.
Sitting together in prayer seems a trite thing to do, compared with acting out in joining protests that easily escalate to even more hatred and violence.
The thing about prayer, though, is that we have a direct and personal relationship with the very God that raised Jesus Christ from the tomb.
God tells us to pray. God calls our nation to humble ourselves before Him and cry out for His mercy, forgiveness, and guidance. For our country to change, we must submit the control to Him.
As Creator of all that exists, God has every method at His disposal to help us return to Him and restore our country and world. Psalm 103:19 affirms, "The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules overall."
Our national and global situation may seem hopeless, but our Father hears our cries for mercy, forgiveness, and rescue. Our world has not fallen to the point where He cannot reach us. He can and will restore us to righteousness if we call out to Him for forgiveness.
It isn't necessary for us to understand what God is doing. It is essential, though, that we obey Him, and realize that the Lord will reveal His path and provision for us at just the right time.
Please pray with me for our world so that we may be healed according to His will.
However, we have eyewitness accounts of a personal and powerful Man in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.
