BELPRE — Brady Clem is ready for the next chapter of his life and that will take place at Campbellsville University Harrodsburg where the Belpre senior will continue his career for the Pioneers of head men’s soccer coach Paul Brooks.

Clem had a ceremony Wednesday at the school and the goalie is excited to get things going.

“Probably, really the coaches honestly,” Clem said when asked what the deciding factor was in his decision to go to Kentucky-based school located near Lexington.

The planned criminal justice major carries a 3.5 GPA and also visited Mount Union, Tiffin and the University of Findlay.

“I’d like to be a U.S. Federal Marshal with that,” Clem said of his future plans. “I was kind of looking for a list of careers.

“It was on there and it seems really interesting and that’s what I want to do.”

A four-year letterman in soccer, Clem said during his senior year “I played goalie and I played some midfield, but in college I’m going to be a goalkeeper.

“They only have two on the roster right now. I’m the third one. They are basically a brand new team. Their first season was actually in 2020.”

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder admitted “I’m pretty big for a goalie” and that he really enjoyed the coaching staff taking him on his tour, which lasted more than two hours.

Clem is planning to compete in track for the Golden Eagles, hopefully the 400 and the long jump, but he’s been slowed by a hamstring pull.

The Golden Eagle said he never went to camps and he just tried to “work as hard as I could when I could.

“You just got to be aggressive, and you just got to know the move you got to make when you do it and get right back up from your mistakes because you got a game to play.”

With the chance to dedicate himself 100% to a sport, Clem is looking forward to competing at the Division II program.

“I’m really ready to get down there and get started really,” he said. “(As a keeper) you got to be able to challenge for balls and win balls.

“You got to be big back in goal and you got to beat people to the ball down there before they score. I’ve always played goalie, really. It’s always been my position.”

The Golden Eagle completely understands the next level “is going to be hard. I just have to get myself ready for it.”

As far as his top memories on the field at Belpre High School, Clem noted “one time we beat Ravenswood, 6-0.

“That was a pretty big. I don’t think we’d ever beat them before and this past year we beat Wood County Christian both games and that was pretty amazing for us.”
