Warren standout Frazee headed to Ursuline College

VINCENT -- Warren's go-to scorer is having quite the senior season. Now, she's taking her skillset to the next level. Prior to the Warriors' home contest against Linsly on Monday, Alex Frazee made her commitment to Ursuline College official. Frazee is a decorated sharpshooter, and given her career field goal percentage of 49.2 percent, her volume shooting should translate to head coach Shannon Sword's high-powered offense. When Frazee gets to Ursuline, she'll major in nursing. When she hits the court in Pepper Pike, Frazee wants to make an impact while getting to know her teammates.
"I'm so excited. I want to go in as a freshman and contribute to them, and help them reach some of their goals," Frazee said. "I can't wait. I've had such amazing coaches throughout the years, and every single one of them have helped me get to where I am right now. I could not be more grateful."
A four-year letter winner and two-time all-ECOL first-teamer, Frazee's accolades don't stop there. She was a second-team All-Southeast District selection last season, which was an improvement over a special mention nod following her sophomore year. Last year also saw her collect a spot on the District 13 Coaches All-District first team. She capped off her junior campaign with an honorable mention All-Ohio selection.
Head coach Brad Venham sees her impact. It won't be easy to replace. Frazee averages 21.4 points per game and nearly four rebounds a game in the early going of an eventful senior season.
"We feed off Alex, and I knew that coming in This is year three of coaching her as a player, so I already knew what I had in her," Venham said. "Her leadership is probably one of the most important things we get out of her. She's not really a vocal leader, but she leads in all the other areas. Her effort is nonstop. During practice, she's really stepped it up. She sees the end coming, and as we look today, she has a bright future. She's really stepped up in practice, and that's helped us on the floor."
Amy Way was Frazee's head coach her first three years at Warren, and Way knows Frazee will make the most of this latest opportunity.
"She's a special player. I knew when she came in that I was excited," Way said. "Watching her in seventh and eighth grade, you knew she was going to be capable of doing some special things. Just to see her growth from her freshman year to this year, and the confidence and belief in herself, it has been pretty special."
"I think she's going to do special things (at Ursuline)."
The signing came at a time where Frazee had her best performance. In Warren's 64-9 defeat of Cambridge last week, she thrashed Cambridge for 42 points. That's a school record, but for her, everybody deserves credit for the feat.
"It was just so exciting. I think all my teammates helped me get that, but I'm still on cloud nine from it," Frazee said. "It was amazing. We still see improvement (as a team), but we work on new things every single day. Hopefully, we can go far. I just want to go out being someone that anyone can go to while being a great teammate."
