PARKERSBURG — Marietta’s Trevor Bell successfully defended his 152-pound Dawghouse Promotions title here Saturday night at The Dugout Summer Throwdown 2 inside Parkersburg South’s Rod Oldham Athletic Center by virtue of a unanimous decision against Dillon Murphy from the Tommy Thomas Boxing Club.
The two combatants went toe-to-toe for three rounds, but Bell walked away with another win to up his record to 8-1, while Murphy dropped to 10-3.
“I knew it was going to be a tough fight, but I knew I would edge it out in the end,” admitted Murphy. “He was definitely tougher than we anticipated him being. It was a good fight.
“I think the first round was close, but I edged him out and landed the better shots. Second round, he landed a lot more clean shots than I did, and then the third it was me again. I think that’s how the fight went.”
New Martinsville’s Joey Weaver, who was begging for action at time in the ring, opened the show with a unanimous decision MMA victory against Wellston’s Luke Conn.

“My cardio is good and I was ready for him. It’s one of my signature moves. I tried to get it on him the first time, but it didn’t work. I knew the second time I locked it in.”
