VINCENT — Warren High School senior baller Julian Stadelman, who is nearing a decision on his future home at the next level, will represent the Warriors one final time on Friday in the Ohio North-South All-Star Game.
Last Saturday, the Division III first team All-Ohioan made all three of his shots en route to seven points to go along with three assists and two steals during the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star Game where he was one of three players not signed to compete at the DI level.
“It’s cool. I like representing Warren. It’s something I enjoy doing,” admitted the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer (1,567), who also competed in the BACF and District 13 Coaches All-Star Games, of having one final go of it at Olentangy Liberty High School.
“It has been a lot. Four all-star games have been a lot. Some of them have been serious. I’m just having fun with it and playing as much basketball as I can while I can.”
Stadelman, who joined Evan French (DII, 2013-14) as a first team WHS honoree, left Belpre after eighth grade and moved into the starting lineup to stay for head man Blane Maddox about halfway through his freshman campaign.

“I’m excited to be done with high school. I like Warren,” he said. “Warren’s a pretty nice school and I’ve met some nice people. The gym is brand new. The school is new. I’m going to miss it, but I’ll be excited to represent Warren in a different way and maybe a better way.”
In order for that to happen the Twin State League and District 13 Coaches Association Player of the Year knows he has things to work on.
“Improve my strength and just like my hip flexors and stuff so I can jump higher. Just be more athletic,” stressed Stadelman, who has Marietta College, Capital, W.Va. Wesleyan and Muskingum on his short list. “That’s definitely something I’m looking forward to, the college experience, and what I want to get out of it and to just grow up and not take the easy way out.
“College will be hard even if you are not an athlete. Just doing the school part that’s not easy so I want to be on top of that and I just want to enjoy it. I want to be proud of everything I’ve accomplished. I don’t want to leave high school or leave college with any type of regret and just being proud of everything I’ve done. That’s my goal.”
The Warrior, who scored a career-high 44 points in his final game versus Miami Trace in the district semifinals, played in 99 contests and finished with 291 assists as WHS produced a 78-21 record.
When asked to reflect back on his time as a Warrior and ending it with a first team all-state nod Stadelman said “to be honest with you, like people ask me for my stats.
“People ask me for like my accomplishments and I just play the game, so it is very cool and I’m very honored to have it.”
Stadelman, who was the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association Southeast District D3 Player of the Year, said he’s just working hard on his game and expects to announce his college decision most likely by the end of the month.
As much as he loves the sport, the Warrior tries to keep everything in perspective as he nears the next chapter in his life.
“I like to shoot a lot,” quipped Stadelman. “That’s just how I like to play and that’s how I like to practice, but I don’t let myself dead in the gym because then I just wouldn’t like the game as much. I wouldn’t love it as much so I definitely do try to play as much as I can and work on as much as I can.
“I do try to take time to just enjoy it, but I am still in high school. I am still a kid and I’m going to work super hard in college so I’m just trying to enjoy this time a little bit more, but I’m still working real hard everyday.”
