The midway point of the half marathon along Gihon Road.

The mile after marker six gives the runners and walkers some encouragement as they will pass the midway point of the half marathon, which is right before a Marathon Gas Station.

Runners and walkers will pass through a normally busy intersection that will be controlled for race day, after which Gihon Road turns into Rayon Drive. During this mile, participants will pass three churches within a short distance. A game racers can play is to count how many churches are along the race course.

SPOILER ALERT: There are 19 churches.

The News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two-Mile Race will be held Aug. 16.
