All Wahama at LKC Golf Championships

ELIZABETH – The Wahama golf team left little to the imagination during Monday’s Little Kanawha Conference Golf Championships at Mingo Bottom Golf Course.
Just past the midway point of the meet, the While Falcons owned a 20-stroke advantage over their nearest competitor and completed their quest with a 22-stroke margin of victory over runner-up St. Marys, 316-338.
Wahama senior Grant Roush opened with a bogey on his first hole then played the rest of his round at 3-under to take medalist honors at 2-under par 70. Roush shot 2-under over his final five holes.
Teammate Brady Meadows followed in second place in the individual race after turning in a 76.
While a majority of the 15 schools in the field played with a full allotment of five players, St. Marys came through with a four-man contingent. Freshman Trevor Maley led the Blue Devils with a 79. Four holes into his round, Maley was 1-under and in the latter portion of his round played even par over an eight-hole span.
Maley placed sixth overall, while teammate Tripp Morrison followed in seventh place with an 80.
Doddridge County took third place in the team standings with a 339 on the strength of Trayton Hall’s fourth-place effort of 78.
Wirt County golfers took advantage of playing on its home course and placed fourth at 349. Tiger sophomore JJ Smith played his final 10 holes at 2-under and finished with a 77 and finished third as an individual.
Tyler Consolidated edged Williamstown, 353-354, for fifth place. John Mace led the Silver Knights by placing eighth with an 81, while Yellowjacket junior Madilyn Buttrey tied Hall for fourth place at 78.
