REEDSVILLE — The Fort Frye girls improved to 8-0 with a 42-28 win over Eastern Thursday.

The Cadets were clinging to a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, but widened the margin to 11 at halftime after outscoring the Eagles 14-4 in the second.

Eastern (5-3) got within 10, 38-28, by the end of the third, but was held scoreless over the final eight minutes. It’s the fifth time in eight games the Cadets have held opponents to 30 points or less.

Ella Dowler led the visitors with 12 points. Jantzyn Huck added nine, Aubrie Lang netted eight and Rae Morgenstern tallied seven for Fort Frye, which visits Federal Hocking Monday. The Cadets previously defeated the Lancers 757-43 on Nov. 29 in their season opener at Warren’s Clash at the Coliseum.

The Eagles got 10 points from Ashlynn Thomas and nine from Braelynn Simpson.

Spring Valley 84, Parkersburg South 47

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Parkersburg South couldn’t keep up with a talented Spring Valley squad, dropping an 84-47 road decision Thursday.

Sophi Hutchinson put up a game-high 22 points to lead the Timberwolves, who improved to 1-1. Five SVHS players reached double figures as Brooklyn Ellis added 16 points, Lucy Jackson tallied 12, Emma Edwards netted 11 and Bella Perdue chipped in 10.

The Patriots, who are 3-1 after suffering their first loss off the year, got 11 points each from Lindsey Logston and Grace Dotson, who just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Quinn Bolyard contributed nine points and three assists. Logston finished with seven boards and three dimes.

PSHS, which travels to Oak Hill Saturday, trailed 23-15 after one, 47-29 at halftime and 67-38 after three.

Parkersburg Catholic 48, Wahama 39

MASON, W.Va. — Annie Tokodi-Ruth’s team-high 18 points helped lead Parkersburg Catholic to a 48-39 win over Wahama Thursday.

The Crusaderettes (2-1) led 11-8 after one, but the White Falcons (1-2) trimmed the deficit to one, 21-20, by halftime. Catholic outscored the hosts 15-11 in the third and 12-8 in the second to come away victorious.

Macy Singer joined Tokodi-Ruth in double figures with 14 points while Seneca Lang added eight for PCHS, which plays host to Eastern Monday in the Mary ‘O’ Crusaderette Classic.

The White Falcons got a game-high 24 points from Fiona VanMatre while Violet Conley netted eight.
