IRONTON -- Early offensive struggles buried Waterford in a hole it couldn't climb out of in Friday's 46-30 loss to Ironton.
The Wildcats (2-4) were limited to four points in the first and six in the second as they trailed 18-10 at halftime. The Tigers outscored the visitors 17-9 in the third to pull away, taking a 35-19 advantage into the final period and cruising from there.
Brycen Mullins scored a game-high 19 points for Ironton while Ashton Lane added 10, Maddix Markel netted eight and Kayden Edwards chipped in seven.
Leading the way for Waterford, which visits Alexander Tuesday, was Gavin Hiener with 12 points. Reese Lang tallied seven and Weston Fairchild contributed six.
Morgan 65, River View 47
McCONNELSVILLE -- Luke Coleman scored a game-high 21 points to propel Morgan past visiting River View 65-47 Friday.
The Raiders, who improved to 2-4, had three players reach double figures in scoring as Clayton Blackburn added 17 and Gavin Shriver netted 15. Carsen Huck just missed double digits with nine for Morgan, which led 17-11 after one, 26-22 at halftime and 49-35 after three.
The Black Bears (1-4) were paced by Layton Massie's 16 points. Chase Wright chipped in eight.
Girls Basketball
St. Marys 83, Clay-Battelle 13
ST. MARYS - Almost nobody was left behind in the St. Marys scoring column as the Blue Devils improved to 4-1 after defeating Clay-Battelle 83-13.
A total of nine girls who stepped onto the court for St. Marys scored, including Brunnley Bulluck pouring in a game-high 28 points and fellow junior Anna Bennett added another 21 points. Teammate Laney Watkins added another 11 points.
St. Marys scored 28 points in the second quarter and followed with a 27-point outburst in the third quarter to extend its lead to 73-12.
