WASHINGTON, Pa. — Marietta College scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning to beat No. 23 ranked Washington & Jefferson College by the score of 6-4 Monday. The Pioneers improve to 11-20 on the season, while the Presidents fall to 27-10 overall.

Zack Molloy led off the tenth with a double down the right field line. Jackson Porta reached on a dropped third strike that allowed Molloy to move over to third. After Porta stole second, W&J got the first out of the inning on a strikeout. The Presidents then intentionally walked Jameson Embrescia to load the bases and set up a potential double play.

W&J got Cooper Fiehrer to ground to the shortstop, but Fiehrer beat the throw at first base on the back end of the double play attempt allowing Molloy to score the go ahead run. Luke Jarzynka followed with an RBI single making it 6-4.

Luke Czarnomski retired the first two batters in the bottom of the tenth before allowing back-to-back infield singles. Czarnomski regrouped and struck out the next batter ending the game.

Czarnomski (3-4) worked the final 2.1 innings for the win. He allowed one run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Evan Wilson started and threw 6.1 innings giving up two runs on six hits. Alex Dues threw the middle 1.1 innings and was charged with one run on two hits.

Embrescia broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run to left in the top of the fifth inning. Marietta went on to score four runs in the inning. Trevor Hall, Molloy, and Porta each drove in runs with singles.

Washington & Jefferson chipped away at the Pioneer lead, plating a run in the fifth, seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. The Presidents forced extra innings when Teddy Platt singled up the middle driving in Rhys Arnold with the tying run. Czarnomski struck out the next batter to end the inning.

W&J used eight pitchers in the game. Brady Dojonovic started and worked the first 2.0 innings allowing no runs on one hit. Nate Nolan (2-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings on the mound.
