Former MC All-American joins volleyball staff
Spitler
Marietta College head volleyball coach Kristy Anderson has announced the hiring of former two-time AVCA All-American Emory Spitler as the Pioneers’ new assistant coach.
“Getting to coach Emory has been one of the greatest blessings, and I couldn’t be more grateful to now transition from coaching her to coaching alongside her,” said Anderson. “Emory has always poured so much of herself into her teammates and consistently lived out our program values.”
Completing a monumental playing career, Spitler finished her final season with the Pioneers by reaching three major milestones. First, she was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the 2025 season, leading the OAC in assists per set (10.55). Demonstrating her all-around skill, she also contributed defensively, averaging 3.1 digs per set, which ranked 12th in the conference. Second, Spitler became the all-time leader in Pioneer volleyball history with 3,975 assists and, lastly, her exceptional performance earned her a second selection to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American team.
In addition to her playing achievements, Spitler has gained valuable coaching experience over the past three seasons. She has coached teams within the Pioneer Volleyball Club program for three years and has worked for Elevation Volleyball Club in Mason, Ohio for the past three summers, where she provided lessons and ran summer camps and clinics.
Originally from Lebanon, Ohio, Spitler recently received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Graphic Design.
“I’m incredibly excited to watch Emory pursue this role,” concluded Anderson. “I truly can’t wait to see the ways she’ll continue to pour into Marietta volleyball and make it even better as an assistant coach.”
