Marietta College seniors Emory Spitler and Brayden Adams were awarded the Ohio Athletic Conference Clyde Lamb Award on Monday (May 11) evening.
Spitler, a graphic design major with a 3.93 GPA, concluded a historic career for the Pioneer volleyball program. A four-time All-OAC first team selection and the 2025 OAC Player of the Year, she became Marietta’s all-time leader in assists with 3,975. Her academic achievements include two High Honor’s Dean’s List placements and being named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-America Third Team.
“I am so proud of Emory for receiving this award,” said head volleyball coach Kristy Anderson. “She is one of the most selfless athletes I have ever coached and to see her hard work payoff is incredible.”
Adams, a health science major boasting a 3.689 GPA, was a cornerstone of the Pioneer football offensive line. A two-time All-OAC honoree and D3Football.com All-Region selection, he was named the 2025 Marietta College Lineman of the Year. His leadership on the line helped the offense average 172 rushing yards per game and record 92 total touchdowns during his tenure.
“Brayden is one of the best examples of a student-athlete that I have ever been around,” said Marietta head football coach Tom Hinkle. “His silence and determination carries from the classroom to the football field. He was the anchor of our offensive line with his pads doing most of the talking. Off the field he carried one of the best GPAs on the team and is going on to do big things in life. I will continue to use Brayden as an example to up and coming student-athletes on how to have success in both athletics and academics.”
Established in 1985, these awards recognize the premier male and female scholar-athletes from each of the nine OAC member schools. The honor is named for Clyde A. Lamb, who founded Ohio Northern University’s health and physical education department in 1929 and served as a coach and athletic director until 1964. Recipients must be seniors with at least two years of OAC varsity participation, maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA, and demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship.
