More local thinclads grab All-Ohio honors

COLUMBUS — Over the weekend, three local track athletes from three different schools found themselves on the podium at the OHSAA state track championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Marietta junior Ian Putnam competed in the 3200 on Saturday, crossing in 9 minutes, 2.33 seconds to place third and make All-Ohio. Putnam’s time broke his own school record.

Putnam was back at it on Sunday in the 1600. He clocked in a 4:31.38 to finish 16th.

For the Warren Warriors, junior Mason Werry placed fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.74. Werry finished less than a second behind state champion Camron Willett of Zanesville, who clocked in at 37.92.

Fellow Warrior Kyle Anthony raced in the 800 and finished 12th, recording a time of 1:56.26

Morgan senior Braylon Miller is also bringing home some hardware as he placed runner-up in the 400. Miller’s time of 48.48, which trailed only Jay’vier Kerr of Glenville (46.92), broke his own school record for the Raiders.
