Ohio state track meet officially underway
COLUMBUS — Shenandoah’s Braxton Barnett secured All-Ohio honors in one event and advanced to the finals in two other events during day one of the OHSAA state track meet Thursday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Barnett cleared 6 feet, 2 inches in the high jump to place fourth and earn a spot on the podium. Barnett also finished first in the prelims for both the 110 and 300 hurdles. He crossed in 14.43 seconds in the 110 and 37.70 seconds in the 300. He’s the favorite to win both events, and is also scheduled to compete in the long jump on Friday.
Fellow Zep Logan Gabel finished 12th in the 400 prelims with a time of 50.59.
On the girls side, Ida Estadt was 10th in the 3200 (11:19.51) while Brenna Leach was 15th in the 400 prelims (1:01.19).
Federal Hocking’s Annamarie Montle advanced to the finals in the 100 hurdles. She came in third with a time of 15.26 in the prelims.
Gabe Bray (11th in long jump at 20-8.25) and Braeden Hill (18th in 100 prelims at 11.53) also represented the Lancers.
Camy Crock finished 13th in the shot put at 36-8.5.
