LAS VEGAS — In a 9-2 loss to the Las Vegas Aviators Tuesday, Turner Hill clubbed a first-inning home run to extend his hit streak to 25 games, a Sacramento River Cats franchise record. Hill, a Marietta native, finished the game 2 for 4 with the homer, a double and both runs-batted-in for the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A club, where he broke the mark previously set by Daric Barton. When you are standing Saturday on Juliana Street awaiting the start of the News and Sentinel Half Marathon, turn around for a second and take a look at the flag on the top of the hill that is behind you. The flag is part of Fort Boreman Park, a historical part of Parkersburg that you will visit in the next two hours. The race you are about to run will take you through the park between miles six and eight.
