Seven Dragons a colorful game for whole family

Out now from Looney Labs is “Seven Dragons,” a colorful dominos-like card game featuring the artwork of Larry Elmore.

The goal of the game is to get a chain of seven of the same color of dragon. At the beginning of the game, each player is secretly given a Goal card, which shows the color of dragon they must get a chain of 7 to win.

Each turn, the player must draw a card and play a card. The card played is either an action card –including Trade Hands, Move a Card, Trade Goals, Rotate Goals or Zap a Card (which means a player can take a card into their hand) — or play a dragon card that must touch the card of a dragon of the same color directly, as in not diagonal and the orientation of the card cannot be changed.

A Rainbow Dragon card exists that can be all colors of dragon. The Silver Dragon, which is the starting card to play off of, at first is all colors, but then can change everytime an action card is played.

If a card is played that matches not just one dragon the other card, but two, you get to draw an extra card.

This is already a good game for a family play, as it mostly just uses color matching and doesn’t require a lot of reading. However, the game has alternate rules for three different age groups: ages 3-4, ages 5-6 and ages 6 and up. This will use or not use the action cards depending on age group and skill level, which is nice to be able to customize the game according to your kids.

As for adults, it is still a fun, quick game that can be enjoyed by all.

“Seven Dragons” is published by Looney Labs. You can find it online, at game stores and the website looneylabs.com.
