Scott is currently sixth in the OAC with nine tackles for loss, resulting in 30 yards lost on the season.
The Pioneers return to action this Saturday as they will hit the road to battle Heidelberg. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Thornton earns women's soccer award
WESTERVILLE -- Marietta College junior forward Jaylyn Thornton was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Monday by the league office.
Thornton was kept scoreless on Wednesday on the road against Capital despite attempting four shots on goal. On Saturday, though, Thornton put together a performance that tied a pair of Marietta College program records. Thornton scored 5 goals, on 6 shots, in Marietta’s 10-1 triumph over Muskingum. She tied the Marietta single game records for goals (5) and points (10) set by Anne Eadie back in 1999.
Thornton now sits in third place in the OAC in goals (10) and points (23) with two regular season games to complete.
The win on Saturday was historic for other reasons, most notably for the fact it solidified the first conference postseason berth for the Pioneers since 2003. This will be Marietta’s second appearance in the OAC Tournament.
The Pioneers will close out the home portion of the regular season this Wednesday evening as they welcome Otterbein to Marietta Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
