Big Ten schedule features UCLA-Oregon, Indiana-Nebraska showdowns

(AP) — Things to watch this weekend in the Big Ten: Game of the week No. 21 UCLA (4-0, 2-0 Big Ten) at No. 13 Oregon (3-1, 1-0), Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS) This represents a rematch of sorts for UCLA coach Bob Chesney, who was at James Madison last year when his Dukes lost 51-34 to Oregon in the first round of the College Football Playoff. It also should give UCLA a true measure of how far it has come in Chesney's debut season. UCLA already has exceeded its win total from its 3-9 season last year and the Bruins have beaten their first four opponents by an average margin of 26 ...

Guards avoid sweep; Brewers, Dodgers, Rays advance

CHICAGO (AP) — Jo Adell and José Ramírez powered Cleveland with a pair of two-out triples, and the Guardians avoided an AL Division Series sweep by cooling off the Chicago White Sox with a 9-3 victory in Game 3 on Wednesday. Adell's three-run triple gave Cleveland a 4-1 lead in the third inning. Ramírez's three-bagger drove in Travis Bazzana and Patrick Bailey for a 7-3 advantage in the eighth. We are already spending record amounts on education so what's the point? None of the ads I've seen speak ...

As the federal government entered fiscal year 2027 on Oct. 1, we marked the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment's application to federal appropriations for Medicaid and other health programs in order to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used to fund elective abortions. When the late Rep. Henry Hyde, R-Ill., first proposed his amendment in June 1976, it was supported by more than 100 House Democrats and a large majority of House Republicans. Despite differing views about legal policy relating to abortion three years after the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, there was a ...

Williamstown erupts for 11-1 senior night win

WILLIAMSTOWN – Lakyn Harshbarger stepped away from competitive soccer for nearly a decade. Deep into her first year back, the senior was able to savor joining the Yellowjacket scoring list for the first time this season in Tuesday’s 11-1 win over Tyler Consolidated. “All the cheering you heard was about it being senior night and going out there with all my teammates around me, and being able to score my first goal in my high school career,” Harshbarger said. “This game has been a whole year of fun and excitement. And to be alongside my best friends on senior night was really ...
